Analysis of Microsamples by Synchrotron light Ftir Spectroscopy

June 23rd-28th, 2014, Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie (Berlin)

2014.06 sincrotronePaint samples from the Grubicy Benvenuti collection at the Fondazione Livorno have been investigated by synchrotron radiation infrared spectroscopy. Measurements have been carried out at the beamline IRIS of  BESSY II synchrotron light source at l’Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie, by researchers from the Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry of University of Pisa, with technical support from Dr. Ulrich Schade. SR-FTIR micro-spectroscopy allows identification of organic and inorganic compounds permitting a high resolution spectral mapping of the examined area. The results highlight the presence of oil, hydrocerussite and proteinaceous materials in the stratigraphy of samples.
