In June 2015, Margherita d’Ayala Valva will be conducting research at the Getty Research Institute, thanks to a Getty Research Grant. The study on the collections of the Research Library will be mainly based on archival work – the analysis of the Umberto Boccioni papers conserved in the special collections – but also on the study of primary and secondary sources conserved in the general collections. Boccioni’s correspondence, as well as his diaries dating back to the years 1907-1908, will be carefully reviewed with a special focus on all passages relative to techniques and materials, recipes, technical education, technical hints to specific works of art, also focusing in the interaction between written and graphic parts.
