Recent research has focused on analysis of samples of artists’ materials from the Fondazione Livorno and aimed to better characterize pigments, varnishes and other products including casein which were found in Grubicy’s and Benvenuti’s collection. Sampling was motivated by questions regarding their working methods and by issues raised during analysis of their works with non-invasive techniques and the careful reading of written documents.
