Research at the historical archives of the Lefranc factory

February 3rd-7th, 2014, Le Mans

IMG_3227Research at the historical archive of the Lefranc factory (now part of ColArt, Le Mans, France) complement studies on Grubicy, who was the intermediary for the Parisian firm in Italy, and yield important information regarding pigment composition as well as their use and the exchange of materials between artists. Pigments produced by Lefranc were praised by the Divisionsts and were presumably also used by the Futurists. Various materials from the archives will be studied, including pigments, lake pigments, and paints. Research will thus provide significant data on paint manufacture of the turn-of-the-century time.
