The essay Designs and colors. Gerardo Dottori through non invasive investigations was published in the catalogue of the exhibition “Gerardo Dottori: The Futurist View” (Estorick Collection, London, 9 July – 7 September 2014), curated by Massimo Duranti with the collaboration of Andrea Baffoni and Francesca Duranti.
The essay presents the results of the non-invasive campaign on seven paintings conserved at the Museo della Penna in Perugia performed within the FUTURAHMA Project. The analysis permitted to clarify the Umbrian artist’s execution techniques, focusing especially on problems related to preliminary graphic designs, on materials, and on the reuse of canvases already painted.
